I'm a passionate and professional cello instructor who loves working with students. I just moved to New York area due to my husband's job. I'm receiving my Doctoral of Musical Arts Degree from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in this coming May 2020. In 2017, I graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a Master's Degree in Music. I have taught at Heidelberg University for 4 years. I graduated with a BA in cello performance from Connecticut College and went on to study at Virginia Tech. I have played in amateur orchestras as well as in chamber ensembles. I also have performance experience on guitar in a variety of settings. My teaching style involves tailoring my lessons to each student's specific needs with an emphasis on ear-training and proper instrument technique. I like to get going on music that moves the student as quickly as possible, so we will use music that is of high interest to the student to develop the ear, learn a bit of theory, and put in the work that will allow the student to really unlock their instrument. I have also spent my summers teaching at such music festivals as Luzerne Music Center, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and NYSSSA School of Orchestral Studies. My duties included teaching students aged 9-19 private lessons, coaching up to three chamber ensembles daily, conducting orchestral sectionals, and rehearsing from within the orchestra. My summer students there have been concerto competition winners, were granted opportunities to perform in the student showcase and for donor events, sat as section leaders in the orchestra, and performed in masterclass for cellists of the Philadelphia Orchestra and for the Johannes Quartet. I want them sprinting up the stairs and ringing my bell several times, because they are so excited to get started!
