I have taught a small studio of private students for over six years. Before I entered college, I was the co-founder and former director of the Wilton and Congers Roots of Music Camps, where I led a team that provided free music instruction to young instrumentalists for three years. I am also currently on the faculty at The Cello Camp in Westport, CT, and previously taught as a summer volunteer instructor at the Harmony Program in NYC. Read More

For beginners, I start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Suzuki Book 1 for cello. These books give a firm structure and introduce classical pieces as well as familiar tunes. Once we finish these two method books, I focus on what the student is more interested in. Are they geared towards classical, or do they really like showtunes? Whatever their interest may be, I find suitable repertoire and continue to challenge and strenghten their abilities. Read More

My teaching style is heavily student focused: By listening to my student's voice and choice, I want to work together to create musical goals for them that we can develop as we progress. While I believe in creating a learning environment focused on intrinsic motivation, I hope my positive attitude and love for music can serve as a source of inspiration for my students! The most important aspect of any lesson is the joy that we bring to it, which is crucial to us developing musical skills and beautiful music. Read More

I began teaching as an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina. I worked in a teacher-training program called the String Project, where I had the opportunity to observe and assist string teachers in a group setting. From there I gained private students in the Columbia, SC area and eventually hired as a Teaching Assistant where I taught a cello practicum for music education students and private cello at the university. I truly appreciate all efforts to produce sound. I am never bored or impatient! My approach to my students is informal, unpressured and encouraging. I play with my students all the time, creating occasions for performance and giving my students contexts for taking pride in their musical achievements. I feel that playing should not be an isolating experience but something to be shared. I organize groups every year: beginner and advanced kids; beginner, intermediate and advanced adults. Read More

My journey as a cello teacher began when I was asked by my teacher to assist him with a few college level students who were in the same cello class as me during my BA studies in Tel-Aviv University. I then discovered my passion for teaching people how to improve their technical skills in order to be able to express themselves musically. After graduating from New-England Conservatory in Boston I returned to Israel with the goal of developing my teaching skills and improving as a music mentor and cello professor. Read More
