I started my teaching carreer in 1994, teaching doublebass and bass guitar. Two years later I began offering guitar lessons. In 1998 I offered cello lessons. My passion for teaching has grown over the years, and brought me great pleasure helping beginner students gain skills, confidence, and a sense of pride and accomplishment in learning to successfully play a musical instrument. I been able to teac advanced bass students techniques that increased their playing skills and understanding of their instrument and music in general. My greatest pleasure was helping a young, nervous, shy, and self conscious young boy, and over time, with his efforts and my guidance, was able to apply and get accepted into music college. I typically use the Applebaum String Builder method books, and supplement with solo pieces as needed. I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. As they become more advanced, they are encouraged to start giving opinions on what they want to learn. I began teaching about 4 years ago, I worked for TakeLessons in which I did both Online lessons and face-to-face. I pride myself in making my students succeed, I’ve had students start taking lessons with me starting in the lowest orchestra and after some months they are in the top orchestra and in a couple of occasions they were also first chair. I began teaching in 2009, with private students. The following year, I began working with non-profit organization, for two years, that brought music to at-risk and underprivileged children. After working with them, I began working with the Baton Rouge Arts Council, bringing music and music appreciation to elementary school class rooms for children and schools that did not have a music teacher, on staff. I am a patient and encouraging instructor who enjoys sharing music with people and working with students to teach music. I started my piano lesson at age of seven and cello at age of nine. I got my bachelor's degree from National Taiwan Normal University where the country I am originally from and my master's degree from Northern Illinois University. I was brought up classically trained on the Suzuki books but I am completely flexible. If you have or have heard of a set of books you like we can use that too. If you don't know how to read music we can focus part of the lesson on music theory and the rest on learning from recordings and playing by ear.
