I have over 13 years of private teaching experience with cellists of all ages and experience levels. As a soloist, ensemble member, and participant in international festivals and competitions, I have performed throughout the US, China, Canada, Switzerland, and Russia. I have performed as a soloist with various orchestras throughout Connecticut including the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the USA. Though my education is in classical music, I am also an experienced performer and arranger of pop, rock, and other contemporary music, and aim to allow students to use the cello to find their own artistic voices in whatever genres they enjoy most. MY name is Oded and I am an Israeli Cellist currently living in NYC. I started playing the cello when I was 4 after watching a video of Yo-Yo Ma perform Elgar Cello Concerto, which made me fall in-love with the sound of the cello. I began my studies in Suzuki method and soon moved to study at a music conservatory in my own town Kfar-Saba, Israel. I then graduated from both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Cello Performance and have been performing around the world as a chamber musician and a soloist ever since, playing in major recital halls such as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fischer Hall, and Tel-Aviv Museum. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method and the Sassmannshaus Early Start books. As they grasp the beginning fundamentals, I incorporate the Alfred "My First Theory Book" series. As the students advance, we begin using Martin's "I Can Read Music," Rick Mooney's "Position Pieces for Cello" and "Fun in Thumb Position."
