I earned my Associates Degree in 1984, in Music Performance, from Community College of Rhode Island. I've been playing bass guitar and double bass, professionally for over 35 years in various bands, groups, orchestras and with international stars such as Ray Charles and Andrea Bocelli. I've played in locations such as Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Maryland, New Jersey, and as far west as Chicago an Detriot. I have performed with several classical orchestras, and as principal bassist with The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra. Read More

I began teaching about 4 years ago, I worked for TakeLessons in which I did both Online lessons and face-to-face. I pride myself in making my students succeed, I’ve had students start taking lessons with me starting in the lowest orchestra and after some months they are in the top orchestra and in a couple of occasions they were also first chair. I love children and I also like getting the best out of people, I’ve had student much older than me and they, to this day, still thank me for helping them reach their goals. Read More
Instruments: Cello
I am funatic, a fun teacher who is fanatic about there instrument. The cello is the middle child between the bass and the violin and a lot like the middle child stereotypes I also think the cello doesn't get enough respect. The winning formula for me is respect for your teachers and respect for the instrument once I had that practice didn't feel like practice it felt like progress and I did all the way until I reached my goal of playing Carnegie Hall. Every student has their own interest and learn with their own pace. I teach them based on what they need to learn and give them what they want to play. I pay attention to students' basic technique and postures as I believe that having a good basic foundation helps you build up your skill and will help you improve. It's important to develop a good practice habits. Always think and plan before practice, set a goal for each session. Read More

For the beginning string player I like to start with a Hal Leonard method book to communicate and help string players master the basics. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons. I encourage my students to do a lot of listening as a part of their practice. Read More

I typically use the Applebaum String Builder method books, and supplement with solo pieces as needed. I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. As they become more advanced, they are encouraged to start giving opinions on what they want to learn. One thing that makes my studio unique is that I don't just teach how to play an instrument, I teach my students how to practice. Read More

Depending on my student's age and skill level I usually have them begin with Suzuki books, Essential Elements books, or a combination of the two. As students advance I often incorporate etudes and/or exercises by Lee, Dotzauer, Galamian, Mooney, Sevcik, Duport, and Popper. While ear training is an essential skill that I teach to all of my students, the younger a student is the more I'll have them "play by ear" instead of reading sheet music. Read More
