However, I do not teach the Suzuki method. I use the book for the songs and exercises in the book. I also like all students to work from a theory book. When we learn how to speak, we also learn how to read and write in our language. I believe that the same is important for music. I use different books for adults and children. My teaching style is a combination of Suzuki method and traditional method. Having learned with the traditional method, I feel it is vital and extremely important for students to learn to read music from the point at which they start reading books and words, this is typically at age 5. For students under age 5 we begin learning everything by ear, once they start reading we introduce reading notes. I'm passionate about having a parent present for every lesson as it is extremely important that a parent or caretaker learn the material so they can be the teacher at home during the week for practice sessions. I currently maintain a small private studio, and also work with larger groups of students in workshop or masterclass settings. Ballet Piano Accompanist at New York City Ballet. I rehearse and prepare ballet and dance music for dancers of all levels; beginning, intermediate and advanced. My dancers range from young children, to adult and senior beginners.
