I am a professional classical bassist turned singer/songwriter - I also teach and play cello and general music. For over a decade I have performed with orchestras, chamber ensembles, bands, duets, trios, solo, etc... as well as teaching students of a variety of instruments and ages. Besides bass, I have taught piano, cello, pop vocals, ensemble skills, music theory, music production, and coached based on individual projects. In my teaching, I value being able to give students the tools they need to grow outside of lessons. In my own experience as a young cellist, I found that often students are only taught exactly what they need in order to play what is in front of them at the lesson that week, but not how to make that music better on their own. I stress the importance of sight-reading and a knowledge of music theory so that students are comfortable learning new music without relying on me. Read More

I like to find out why my students are interested in playing music. This helps me to create a lesson plan for each individual one. I like to start out teaching using Alfred's beginner books, and progress from there. Each student learns at a different pace, so I base my lessons off of their progress. For everyone, I focus on making the instrument feel as comfortable and organic as possible calling on my background with diverse movement modalities from Feldenkrais to dance to sports.
