Overview:
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I enjoy sharing the magic of music with others as both a performer and instructor.  I studied piano, cello and engineering at USC and Duke University.  I've had the pleasure of serving as a section cellist with various orchestras throughout my career in Georgia and South Carolina. I've studied piano with Dr. Frothingham and cello with Dr. Jesselson and Dr. Raimi. I had the opportunity to play on the main stage of Carnegie Hall twice as well as other concert halls around the country.
EXPERIENCE
My first experience giving private lessons was at a summer music camp right before my senior year in high school.  I have consistently taught piano and cello students for over 10 years independently and as an affiliate of local music stores.  My goal as a teacher is for each of my students to make gradual progress each week as they become more proficient with their exercises and music.  I hold at least 2 recitals a year which I strongly encourage everyone to take part in. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and to explore various music genres within our course of study.
METHODS USED
Beginner school-aged cellists:  I start this group off in the Essential Elements book 1 to ensure that the student is getting the fundamentals or theory and technique.  After the student feels comfortable playing with the bow, I add the Suzuki book 1 to the repertoire.  After completing Essential Elements Book 1, I then like to introduce the Schroeder etudes in addition to continuing to work our way through all 8 books in the Suzuki series. Beginner Adult cellists:  I give adults the option of starting off in Essential Elements or moving at a faster pace with the Suzuki books.  After learning the fundamentals of playing, I then tailor the lessons to the students individual needs or tastes. Beginner children pianists:  I like using the Piano Adventures series with this group.  I usually start with the Primer book before Book 1.  For children in the 4 to 5 age group, I start off with the Pre-Reading books A thru C. Beginner adult pianists:  For adult beginners, I like starting off with the Adult Piano Adventures book 1.
LESSON STYLE
I feel that my job as a teacher is to facilite my students' indivual growth and development as they make their own way along their musical paths in life.  My happiness comes from watching my students gain more confidence after reaching goals that they set for themselves in our sessions.  It's important to me that everyone feels good about themselves which is why I started a 'Student Spotlight' newsletter to highlight accomplishments such as completing a book or performing with the school orchestra.

Miss Audrey W. is friendly, professional, and thorough. She concentrates on both form and function, teaching my kids how to sit and how to hold their fingers/arms. We've enjoyed having her teach. My son is on the autism spectrum, and she handles both him and my "neuro-typical" daughter well.
