My style is fun, joking around, but firm and serious.  I expect that my students be prepared for every lesson, but to also have fun at the same time.  I don't want to be stogy, or boring.  So I like to see my students smiling and laughing, but learning and enjoying their instruments.  The more the undesrtand their instruments and laugh the more they will enjoy playing that will lead to more technical advances. I bring these two accomplishments together to provide a well rounded experience for my students.  In High School, I performed with the Kansas City Youth Symphony for 8 years, the Kansas City Cello Choir for eight years, the Missouri All-State for three years, and various other honor orchestras throughout her career. It's important to move at the student's pace - whatever speed that may be. It's important to build a solid foundation but that doesn't necessarily mean mastery or perfection. It's easy to lose interest if stuck on one piece to long so we'll move through the material as quickly or as slowly as the student desires as long as the foundation is there.
