I have been playing cello for 20 years, after starting when I was 10. I was admitted to Jacksonville University at the age of 16 on a full scholarship, and there I pursued a double major in Music Theory Composition, and Cello Performance. I did my graduate work at Denver University, where I studied a variety of non-western musics, including Balinese gamelan, Ghanaian drumming, and Tuvan traditional music. Throughout school and up until I graduated from college, I taught private cello lessons during the summers. I have been a classroom teacher (elementary, middle, and high school, in addition to teaching adults computer programming) for the past twelve years. I thoroughly enjoy working with students of all ages and helping them meet their goals. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with. I have taught several students while I was studying music. I won the third place of the Taipei City Competition of Music among many outstanding competitors in 2015. On the other hand, I strived for the chance of participating in many performances. In 2014, I performed Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with the local orchestra in Hualien. In 2017, I played Prokofiev’s Sinfonia-Concertante, Op.125 at my recital at Soochow University, which was praised by my teachers and the audiences. Read More
