My style of teaching is personal and caring. Whether my students develop a desire to pursue music beyond our lessons, I care about their happiness and personal success in life. I develop a relationship with my students and I really enjoy it when I hear that they used a concept I taught them in our music lessons for something beyond music. I at least hope to instill a strong understanding and enjoyment of music in each of my students which they can share with the people in their life. Read More

I began my musical journey at age 2 with my first gig, sitting in on percussion while on a family vacation, at Hilton Head Island. SC. At age 8, I began formal studies on the violin and viola with the school orchestra, winning several state and regional awards. It wasn't until age 17 that I discovered the bass guitar and immediately starting playing in bands with my friends. In college, I continued my absorption of musical knowledge with Music Theory, Music History, and Bass Performance from the University of Colorado, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master's Degree from the Berklee College of Music. I am an enthusiastic teacher who loves passing on my passion for music to my students. I started playing guitar at a young age and then picked up bass in gigging bands in Texas and Kansas City. I received my education at Ottawa University, where I was a part of the performing jazz program. After graduating I began teaching in Kansas City and had the opportunity to play around the country in and acoustic alternative band. Read More

I have taught piano for nearly a decade. As I was growing up, my mother taught piano in our house and I started learning at five years old. When I was twelve, I took on my first student, who was about four years old at the time. Since then, I have taught in a variety of settings, from double teaming pairs of students with my mother to teaching cello, piano, drums, and basic music skills online to students living in Haiti, France, and across the United States!
