I started teaching at an early age of 18, having always been someone adept at explaining difficult things to understand very easily, i quickly grew to becoming the Assistant director of Music at a school by helping out with forming curriculum, building custom lesson plans for different students. I would then go on to teach at various different schools, both private and public through non profts to share my methods and to ensure students get the right education through fun ways. Read More

I started my musical journey at age 3 in Hollywood, California. My musical inspiration has always been The Beatles and I aspired to be like them. From the first time I picked up the guitar I never put it down. As I grew into my guitar, it became my friend, protector and therapist. As a high school student hearing the last bell ring, I leaped on my back and headed straight to music school which I took way more serious than anything else, knowing that one day I'd make my presence known. My teaching style is all about enjoying music and the instrument. I can pick up when a student is frustrated, confused or embarrassed and adjust the lesson accordingly. Overall, I want my students to have fun! I enjoy teaching how to read music and once a few notes are learned, I start applying it to songs that my students really enjoy. I also like to teach scales and harmonic structure so my students can begin to understand what's really going on in the music they enjoy. Read More

I first like to learn a bit about each student and what their goals are on the instrument. Knowing whether or not someone as musical career goals vs. just being able to have fun playing is important! For beginners I general start with a bit of the basics - how the guitar works and how to start fretting notes and making some noise, and then begin moving towards easier or simplified versions of popular songs. It is important to pass on the education and experience I received. In my opinions, this is a duty of the artist. So I have always tried to share what has been given to me. I have had both formal and ad hoc students over the years. Although I've taught other subjects, such as theater and computer science, music is my metier, so it is the subject I am most fond of and love to teach the most. Read More

Simply, it is important to set clear goals, and understand all aspects of what one aspires to achieve. So, I always make a strong effort to cater to the needs, interests, and goals of my students, whilst building their general knowledge of the musical arts. On the same token, I am not a book teacher. In my experience and opinion, books are merely tools to be used to increase the greater spectrum of ones musical prowess. Read More

Every student is different so my teaching style changes depending their personality and interests. Some students respond well to tough challenges and criticism, while others buckle under pressure. For each student I will find a balance between their musical interests and information that I think they need to know in order to become a better percussionist. In lessons, I maintain complete honesty with my students about their progress, but in a reassuring way to watch them grow as performers. Read More
