I have found the last few years very rewarding as students become musicians. Since my first student I taught in 2004, through the days I taught at a music school, up right on to the present moment, I love passing the music onward as it was passed to me. For students who are children I like to start to start learning rhythms through common children’s songs to show how easy music can be. Depending on the instrument, one of the many Hal Leonard books is always a good option. If they are a little older, I will use music that they like to teach how music theory and fundamental skills makes up all the musi they enjoy. I encourage people to do their best as well as go at their own pace. I set goals, If they exceed those goals in a week or 2 months, It doesn't matter, as long as they are trying their best. The most important thing for me as a teacher is to see my students having fun, and really enjoying learning their instrument. I want to see them be passionate about getting better because they’re excited about what’s coming next.
