I try to get to know the students as best as I can. I will ask them about their interests in music and outside of music. I also will learn what their weaknesses and strengths are and push them to improve all around. I have a pretty laid back style of teaching. My goal to encourage them, rather than make them feel bad or frustrated. I will simply tell them if they are sounding good, or I will tell them what they can do to sound better. Read More

I have been a bass player for over 15 years and have played in numerous projects and recordings. Main focus has been rock n roll, rock en espaol and singer/songwriter projects. I have my own recording studio in downtown la, I can provide a variety of services to students that includes media and can be a facilitator of services if I myself can fulfill the students needs. During my first meeting with a new student I ask them questions about their prior experiences, current knowledge, and musical aspirations. From there I tailor a unique learning strategy geared towards their goals, personality, and aptitude. I always try to use music that the student enjoys to spotlight the concept we are covering, and encourage the student to think about it while they listen to their favorite songs. The greatest payoff I can think of is when a student gets the immediate satisfaction that comes along with hearing an audience cheer for them after a good performance, and I do my best to curate these opportunities! I began teaching guitar in high school while working at a local music store. I also recieved class credit by going to other schools in the county teaching classes in their music departments. After high school I concentrated on furthering my own muisc education. So I packed up and moved to Hollywood to attend the prestigous Musicians Institiute. After receiving my AA degree from MI I pursued teaching again, teaching at various music schools and in my own home studio. Read More

One of the most important factors in determining a teacher's legitimacy is their professional teaching experience. I can confidently say that along with my extensive training, education, and music industry credentials, I have 6 years of professional experience teaching every possible age, skill, and instrument combination. My most recent job involved teaching up to 35 students a week on beginner-advanced piano, vocals, guitar, drums, songwriting, and bass. Many of my students have been with me since I started there two and a half years ago. Read More

My teaching style is focused on helping each student feel at ease, so that they can better learn. I also am strength-based in.my approach. That is, I focus on each individuals strengths in learning. This is in contrast to other teaching styles which are geared toward focusing on an individuals challenges. I have observed that this is the best way to successfully address new musical techniques and concepts. An example might be a child who likes to sing, but is struggling to learn new notes. Read More

I am a professional musician, educator and session bassist, currently residing in Los Angeles. Formerly self-taught, I received my education at Musicians Institute, where I graduated as Most Outstanding Student of the year 1998. Since then I have been playing, teaching and recording internationally and locally with a wide range of artists, covering nearly every style of contemporary music, from jazz/fusion to rock/metal. I recently released two solo albums with classical music adapted for the bass guitar. Read More
