Then, I will teach them the songs they want to learn, as well as any techniques they are curious about. I try to approach each student as an individual. Every student has their own level of enthusiasm, patience, willingness, and availability. Learning music should always be fun and rewarding first and foremost. I believe in building a good teacher/student relationship and pushing my students beyond what they believe their limits are. I started teaching music lessons back when I was 14, when friends would ask for tips or lessons, and local parents wanted lessons for their children. For a beginning student on guitar, I have them learning notes from a Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, or Alfred starter book. All these books are great, but I believe it depends on the individual student and how they learn. I also teach tab to beginners. I feel it is important to read tabs these days as well as notes. I also work with music theory. It is also important to know what you are doing, not just putting your fingers on the strings. Read More

Through that experience, I began to enjoy seeing students progress, develop a passion for the instrument, and in-part, become inspired by taking my lessons.
