I'm a dedicated and experienced guitar instructor who has worked with students of many different ages and skill levels. Over the past 20 years, I have performed, recorded and toured with several noteworthy regional and national recording artists, while also furthering my education along the way.  Although I have had some incredible experiences as a performing musician, my biggest passion is sharing my musical knowledge with others. During my employment with Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education (in Wilson, NC) where I introduced a marching band program and lead the band to winning second place in the Music in the Parks competition in May of 2015. During my internship I was able to develop a percussion line with the students in under a month. The formation and level of proficiency of the percussion section was so astonishing that administrators, staff, other teachers, and even the principal dropped in from time to time just to hear the progression of the ensemble. I believe in being being honest and encouraging, allowing students the chance to struggle and fail in a safe environment, while stressing and correcting proper techniques. I encourage practicing a little almost every day of the week, and finding what fires you up about the instrument. I also make sure to take an interest in student's lives beyond music- people are busy, and I understand those pressures! I also adapt my teaching to each individual, allowing the student to make an emotional connection to what they are learning and to apply that emotionality back into their playing.
