I am a highly motivated andenthusiastic instructor who loves giving people of all ages the gift of playing and performing music. I graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Guitar Performance in 2010. Music has been the biggest positive influence in my life and I have not been able to put the guitar down since I was 12 years old and first started to play. Read More

I encourage each student to build a list of their favorite songs. This helps them to always have something new, and something to review. It is very rewarding to see my students being able to play one of their favorite songs from beginning to end. I also help my students create their own original songs when they are inspired to do so. As my student my goal will be to help you become a diverse and well rounded musician. For beginners I like to start with the Smiandl Method. This, being a classical method book, will give a strong foundation in technique that translates easily between upright and electric bass. With these building blocks firmly set we can start the real fun! For intermediate to advanced students the world is your oyster! Read More

Technique as well as theory are equally important. It is also important to have fun while learning. I like to use the Hal Leonard lesson books combined with excersises that I have created. I can also teach songs requested by students and explain and demonstrate how theory and technique apply to the tune. Improvising and playing along with other musicians in songs or jams is highly recomended. Understanding what each student wants to get out of the lesson is important. Read More

I believe in allowing each student to decide their level of engagement with music. While some prefer to simply learn the basics of an instrument, others want to delve into more in-depth musical concepts and theory, and no one approach in more relevant than another. I look to show beginning or growing musicians the feeling of accomplishment that learning a new piece of music provides. Through exploring the songs and music that a student is most engaged with, as well as classics in a variety of genres, students gain a sense of how theory and/or techniques craft the music they love and know and that they, too, can create music that might one day be studied by future students.
