I have experience teaching complete beginners to seasoned musicians. I have taught in-studio lessons, in-home lessons, and also have experience teaching private lessons. I have helped many students with reaching their goals, whether that is physically playing a particular piece, understanding the theory behind one of their favorite pieces, understanding how to create their own compositions, as well as other goals. This has been under many different genres like classical, jazz, rock. blues, funk, etc.. Read More

I knew that I wanted to be a teacher before I ever touched a guitar. Growing up in a family of school teachers allowed me to see the broad spectrum of the educaGonal process, from designing lesson plans to filing report cards, and I quickly realized that a teacher doesn’t stop working when the bell rings. Teaching history out of a textbook is one thing...teaching a student to hear the color of an altered dominant chord is a totally different beast. Read More

I am looking to work with someone dedicated to seeing there full potential and working hard. Read More

With older students, I try to cater the lessons to their personal needs and interests. For example, It may not seem fitting or appropriate to teach single-note reading to an older student that has no experience reading music, and who may specifically want to learn to sing and accompany their voice on an acoustic guitar. You can learn to play chords on the guitar without ever looking at a staff. Read More

In regards to teaching style, I am persistant with practice, while understanding of ability. This is a method that is applied by setting goals and following a direction that introduces and builds upon ideas, all while taking the student's progress and aptitude into account. I often try to balance out the harder, sometimes tedious work of technique and theory with songs that the student requests or shows interest in playing. Read More

Seeing a student progress instrumentally and theoretically is extremely rewarding and what I hope to accomplish through teaching. Setting goals throughout the lesson process is fundamental to a student progressing at their own pace and recognizing those goals will fuel their motivation to continue and prosper at their instrument. This is why students who know what they want to get out of their instrument in advance will have an advantage. Read More
