I divided my lesson in four parts: Make find your own sound, Technique, HarmonyEar Training, Repertoire. If you are beginner student is a different intensity and difficulty than for a intermediate or advance student, but the approach is the same. I don't care about the lesson in itself, but I care that the student create his/her own musical path. I put a lot of passion in my teaching and I work for the student outside the lesson as well; making specific backing track and exercise for the specific student or helping him/her out for get in a band or to auditioning for music schools. The first thing I ask a student is what kind of music they enjoy. What we love to hear is almost always what we want to play. As someone with ADHD I completely understand and empathize with students who have a difficult time focusing and a different way of understanding a concept. Taking a breath and a stretch can sometimes be the best cure for learner's block. Pointing out real progress is one of the best way to fuel the desire to learn more and is itself a reward! Read More

My ultimate goal is to help each student of mine have a musical connection that they can take anywhere with them in life. It reminds me of a wonderful quote I hears a couple of years ago "everyone should have a little bit of music in their life: and that has been something that's stuck with me through my teaching every week. I love seeing my students light up over learning their favorite songs and getting little aha moments that change how they see music as a whole. Read More

If the student relates to the material, everything will come much easier. I usually begin with music the student likes, and often use that same piece to pivot into learning drum notation. Once the student grasps the concept behind rhythmic notation and subdivision, presenting them with additional, more complex material is simple and becomes increasingly more rewarding! For younger students presenting them with drum notation as simple number counts and times where 2 or more instruments play simultaneously has worked wonderfully in my experience. Read More

I have been teaching professionally since 2010. I have worked for various music schools and have given lessons privately. I have experience in band coaching and teaching song writing and recording. I teach lessons out of my own recording studio, and I am comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels. I consider myself to be great with beginners because I focus a lot on technique and how to make a clear clean sound on the instrument which is usually the first barrier a new student encounters. I'm very patient and fun. My concept is a very straight forward approach by applying theory and technique to pieces of music. The student learns proficiencies [scales, chords, theory, technique and more ] Develops a song list. With a check list of things to do with the songs. melody, chords , advanced chords , chord melody, improvisation, riffs Also we study composition and song writing. Read More
