I began my musical journey at age 2 with my first gig, sitting in on percussion while on a family vacation, at Hilton Head Island. SC. At age 8, I began formal studies on the violin and viola with the school orchestra, winning several state and regional awards. It wasn't until age 17 that I discovered the bass guitar and immediately starting playing in bands with my friends. In college, I continued my absorption of musical knowledge with Music Theory, Music History, and Bass Performance from the University of Colorado, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master's Degree from the Berklee College of Music. Some theory instruction goes along with whatever playing instruction the student is working on. It helps students visualize the basic techniques for sitting and playing the piano in a way that will prevent injury. From there we walk through the book until the student understands how the keys and reading music works.
