I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged. Most importantly it makes learning music fun! I love jazz and I encourage efforts of composition and improvisation to help the student take ownership of the notes they're learning. Read More

The lesson plans and repertoire provide the tools to learn the concepts, time in lessons is aimed to develop technique and showing the student how to practice the concept in progress. My level of oversight as far as repertoire and the concepts the student is learning, is dependent on the level of the student as well as their learning style. Read More

I taught music theory and the overall style of how to learn and build chords based on key signatures. Being able to show these kids so much about their instrument made me want to some day become a good tutor for someone else in need of lessons that are straight forward and to the point without having to worry about a tutor that's hard to work with. I did not officially start teaching music until after I graduated from Hill College. I have been playing the cello since I was 13 and singing since I was practically born. While attending college I was put in charge of my section in the choir in order to make sure that everyone knew their part. I would set up weekly times for all of us to meet and go over our parts.
