I teach the CAGED method on guitar, by which all chord forms and most tonal scales are based on 5 easy chord shapes, C,A,G,E, D. I will continue to ask students what their goals are and reach those goals, while learning basic fundementals of reading music. I have several other reccomended texts and resources to help students. I began teaching music lessons at Lewis Music in downtown Kissimmee, Florida in 2004. In the years that have followed I have had students from 5-90 years old and from every background imaginable. Each student is unique so I have learned to adapt to each students goals and preferences. I am happy to teach songwriting, digital music production, and music theory to my most advanced students, and it fills me with joy to hear the songs they write or perform! Read More

I encourage students to focus on their personal expression and growth as a musician. While I select pieces for students based on their skill level and ability to take challenges effectively, students are given the freedom to browse their own musical library or lexicon to perform music they enjoy or is moving to them. Since many modern songs can be found without sheet music or proper notation for each instrument, I arrange pieces and songs for students' instruments as close to the recorded version as possible. My teaching style is casual and professional, and you can expect low-stress top-notch musical education from me. Though I am lighthearted, I am serious and passionate about the music and inspire students with acknowledgment and praise when goals are reached. Musical accomplishemnts (learning to play real songs/pieces) are the best fuel for fire, and I push students to reach for more challenging and engaging performances. At the same time, music should be fun, and so should music lessons. Read More

As much as possible, I usually try to make custom lesson plans for each student. For beginning guitar or ukulele students I will usually begin by teaching them to play a familiar song using only a couple chords. This gives them something tangible to work toward right from the beginning. We can then add more chords and more challenging songs as we go, as well as learning to play scales and melodies, etc. Read More
