Every student starts or resumes classes at different levels. My job is to recognize that level and proceed accordingly. I like my students to be able to learn and progress at the rate they can or want to. Letting students let you know what they want to learn and at what pace, helps the student as well as the teacher in that progress. I like to tell my students that they will not only be a good player, but know exactly what they are doing. Read More

For beggining students, I start with fundamentals, holding the guitar/pick, posture, and then start with some tremolo (up and down) picking patterns, a few basic open chords, a basic scale, and then pick a simple song to learn. As, we progress, I try to evolve with the student, getting more specialized in whatever genre they are leaning towards, all the while teaching songs and helping them to learn what they like. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I truly believe in giving my students the freedom to select the songs and/or genres they like and that's because I believe passion is an integral aspect of learning. Read More

My joy for teaching came simply from teaching friends and family how to play, and quickly seeing them grow and discover themselves as a musician. My musical style began with rock n roll, and has adopted a little bit of everything over the years, from jazz to folk and electronic, and everything in between. I learned music by ear, and when I got to a point where I felt I had my own style, I learned music theory to fill in the gaps and become more well rounded. Read More

For my teaching style I can only go on my previous lessons where I exhibit a very relaxed and safe learning environment for students by making the lesson more of a constant learning experience rather than other teacher that I have had in the past that make it more of a lecture. My teaching style will also have me playing bass alongside the student to better help them understand the points/ ideas that I want to get across. Read More

My teaching style is based on motivation and fun. It is important to me that each student progresses at his or her own pace. Setting realistic goals for my students to progress and make them interested in learning more. Learning your first song it is very important that's why I let my students will choose their first song to learn. I also introduce music theory at the same time, so the students understand what they are playing. Read More
