Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. For children and other beginners, I would start our lessons by encoding the basic function of music theory application of a drum pad. This will allow stick control and muscle memory to begin developing. As the beginner becomes more of a novice, I will introduce simple and repetitive songs and go over them as whole pieces. The way I approach teaching percussion is starting with an introduction and working through along the way. I usually teach in a way that allows the student to be able to perform freely. At first, I work with them and show them how to play a certain rhythm and then I allow them to play it on their own.
