I am a passionate and fun instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2014 I graduated from Willamette University in Salem, OR with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. While at Willamette I performed with many ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, many small Jazz Combos, The Willamette Chamber Choir, Male Ensemble Willamette (all male choir), Voce Feminile (all female choir), and The Willamette Singers, a vocal jazz ensemble. Seeing a student take on a challenging piece is more rewarding to me than anything. When I see a student struggling, I will offer the techniques that I would typically use, however there is no ONE right way to do everything. I encourage independent learning and going beyond the lesson. IF A STUDENT ONLY IS PRACTICING WHILE IN THE LESSON, WE CANNOT ADVANCE AS QUICKLY AS I PLAN. Depending on the instrument I’m teaching and the skill level of the student I’m usually going to start of with a 10 to 15 minute session of evaluation and assessment of needs acquired skills and students desires .we can then begin with exercising proper warm up posture and position .and run through warm up scales and learn rutiments or attack the desired skill requirements straight ahead depending on the students development.Music is an art and a discipline.it is a relationship one has with there instrument.my songs and instruments become like family ,well charrished!!!!
