I motivate my students by being interactive.With children who are new to music, I use my personal method, which is characterized by providing knowledge while playing interactive games, which helps the children grasp music-related issues. With the older students, I try to inspire them by playing duets, accompanying them, and placing emphasis on a variety of repertoire. While studying at the Conductor’s Institute in 1993, I had master classes with Donald Portnoy, Samuel Jones, Larry Newland, and Paul Vermal. I also studied with David Effron and Yuri Bekker at the Miami Music festival I am an active cellist and composer and has had works performed by the Colorado Symphony and in Romania. MY composition, “Theme and Variations for Orchestra” was performed by the South Florida Youth Orchestra in January of 2003, and “In Memoriam” was given its world primer at the University of Miami in 2007. I typically use a combination of methods in the private lesson setting-method books, etude books, books for technique, solo repertoire, and pop/rock/jazz music and or charts for contemporary study. For beginners, I like Essential Elements 2000, Faber Method, Suzuki solo books, and easy pop music books.
