I am a dedicated and determined voice teacher, with a passion rooted in the desire to develop a healthy vocal technique. In 2022, I graduated with my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University. Over the past ten years, I have spent time performing on stage in concerts, operas, and musical theatre. I find that younger students sometimes have such huge talent and voices but don’t quite know how to perform in a way that fully demonstrates their true ability. I want the lessons to be a fun and exciting process. I love working with ages 11-85 and try to accommodate and feel how their singing becomes more and more joyful. Singing scales, breathing at times against a wall, moving arms and singing with joy, all help students enjoy and create the sound and rhythms they are comfortable with. I like to begin with getting a sense of where the student is in their musical development. Then, it's all about the basics! I address breathing, body alignment, relaxation/tension, and all of the aspects of singing through exercises tailor-made to address the student's individual and immediate needs. For most of my students, I will provide specific pieces that will help in their development and keep their interest. My favorite piano method book for children is the Bastien Piano Basics Series. Alternately, I sometimes use the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures. For very young children (3-6) "My First Piano Adventure," a Faber publication, is my book of choice. For adults, I usually use Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, though sometimes I skip method books and play pieces picked by the student.
