For beginner piano students I generally work out the Faber Piano Adventures and for adults I use The Older Beginner Piano Course by Bastien. For Flute students I use the Trevor Wye Beginners Book for the Flute. Clarinet I use the Rubank Method books. I began teaching private voice lessons to high school-age children in 2016. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with people ages 5-30. The Metropolitan Opera Guild was an excellent teaching experience, where my mentors included teachers at Lincoln Center and New England Conservatory alumni. As a participant in NEC's Vocal Pedagogy program, I had the experience of teaching lessons to my colleagues in NEC Opera. For some five year olds, that may be simply participating in the whole lesson and practicing a few minutes per week. For others, it may mean being challenged with advanced materials. Each student will receive a unique repertoire and lesson based on ability and interests. I focus on technique, then repertoire, then theory, then review for a 30 minute lesson, and younger students will often get a fun music-based game at the end if the lesson has been fruitful. One of my longest standing students is now attending that college for voice performance as well. I taught mostly younger girls who wanted to sing in choir or the school musical.
