I typically use a combination of methods in the private lesson setting-method books, etude books, books for technique, solo repertoire, and pop/rock/jazz music and or charts for contemporary study. For beginners, I like Essential Elements 2000, Faber Method, Suzuki solo books, and easy pop music books. For more advanced students, I will incorporate advanced methods such as etude books/orchestral excerpts along with repertoire geared more towards polishing for recital or performance. Read More

My teaching experience began in the school year of 2011-2012 when I had the pleasure of an apprenticeship with a locally renowned Music Director at E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary. This was where my passion for teaching music flourished. Under Director Sherker's wing, we taught and directed the elementary school string orchestra and chorus programs. I am a passionate and motivated instructor and music performer and  I am confident that my academic background and performance experience would be successfully utilized in this teaching position. I have a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The Royal Danish Academy of Music and a Bachelors of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. I began my vocal private studio while working on my Masters degree in Copenhagen in 2007. As a performer I have had the opportunity to work with companies such as Opera Naples, Gulfshore Opera, Miami Lyric Opera, Sobe Arts, Miami International Piano Festival, Orchestra Miami, Symphony of the Americas, Miami Symphony Orchestra, Emerald City Opera, Miami Opera Institute, Florida Chamber Orchestra, Russian Opera Workshop, Danish Radio Choir and Orchestra, Royal Danish Academy Choir and Orchestra and the Amager Music Festival to name a few.        Read More

My teaching style is based on traditional classical approach of Russian Piano teaching method. For younger, beginner level student lessons are structured around different activities and games (for very young students) to learn notes reading and rhythm. For intermediate and more advanced students each lesson starts with a warm up, of scales, arpeggios, etudes or other technical pieces. After that we move onto working on individual pieces of music. I really take a look at what the student needs to learn and what the student wants to learn because I've seen a lot of students giving up because the institution or teacher is giving to much theory and very poor practice. I try to balance those responsibilities to a point that the student will always be learning something new as long as I work on their motivation and consistency of keeping up so they can learn how to play anything they like and want. The fundamentals of singing can be explained in 15-20 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master them. Wherever you are in the pursuit of voice, it's necessary to develop reproducible, reliable technique. Singing is breath, vowels and consonants, and feeling, and how the three of them interact is crucial to having a sustainable, easy, and fun instrument. This is where the work is. The first half of each lesson is spent on vocal exercises and technique, and the second half is spent working on repertoire, applying what's been learned in an effective and lasting way. Read More
