My teaching style is all about making the musical journey uniquely tailored for each student, ensuring it's not just educational but a celebration of their individuality. From the get-go, the lessons are centered around the student's personal goals, creating an environment filled with laughter and joy. We delve into the fundamentals, starting with mastering breath control, perfecting posture, and unlocking the full emotional potential of their voice. Clear pronunciation becomes an intuitive part of the learning process, seamlessly blending into their vocal repertoire. Read More

Most important to my teaching is that each student to listens to a lot of music, and learns to play the music that they love as soon as possible. I work with a variety of method books/videos depending on skill level and stylistic interest, and teach time-tested regimens for building raw ability on the instrument. I also have many exercises of my own invention that are fun to listen to and play, while still remaining challenging and building facility. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

I start off all beginning students by teaching them the fundamentals of singing. If students have taken lessons in the past, I work on reviewing fundamental concepts with them. When a student first begins lessons, I typically spend more time on helping to build the student's technique than on repertoire, and as the student progresses, I split the lesson more equally between the two components. I believe in motivating students by helping them learn the repertoire to which they are most attracted, though I do also give them repertoire of styles with which they may be less familiar in order to help them solidify their technique. Instruments: Piano Voice

I have taken several courses in different music pedagogy and techniques as well as genres of music.  Using the knowledge from these courses I have been enabled to form my philosophy of teaching to incorporate different teaching styles to help my students.  I feel that the main prupose of these lessons is to aid the students in their needs and wants whether it is understanding certain parts of music theory, techniques, or just understanding the basics with a piece of music.  Also, my students feel that they are able to come into a lesson with some ideas about what they want to get out of lesson while including my thoughts on what they need to work on. Hello everyone! My name is Jake. I am recent graduate of Syracuse University, where I received my BM in Voice Performance. This fall, I will begin my MM in Voice at Boston Conservatory. My aspirations are to become as successful as I can in the music business, particularly in opera. While I am still very young, I have been fortunate enough to work with conductors such as Christian Capocaccia and Larry Loh, and have worked with several wonderful singers at Syracuse Opera. I love teaching and sharing my passion of singing with my students. I, however, never want to pressure a student to go in one director or push them too far too fast. The best way to learn is at your own pace. I make vocal warm ups tailored to each students needs and I do encourage them to try these out at home. I also try to be there to the best of my ability for my students and encourage them to perform and progress. Read More

More recently I have had the pleasure of conducting several masterclasses in China, where I was made an honourary professor, University of Toronto and Gordon College in Massachusetts. I have been singing professionally for 10 years in places like the Met and the Canadian Opera Company.
