I am a passionate and enthusiastic instructor who loves to teach everything music. I graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Management Minor. I have performed in various groups throughout my undergraduate degree, both in musicals and rock band groups. In the fall of 2020, I began my Master degree studies in Instrumental conducting at Houghton University, finishing in the spring of 2022. While at Houghton, I conducted, performed and wrote for the Wind Ensemble and various chamber groups (including conducting the operetta, Pirates of Penzance). Read More

I have been teaching voice and piano for ten years; beginning with my senior year in high school and now as a professional musician. Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More
Instruments: Voice Drums
My teaching experience dates back to my first year in Yamatai. As a more advanced percussionist, I took it upon myself to assist my fellow new recruits with learning the material outside of regular practice times with the Musical Director. With percussion, we found that taking a piece and breaking it into small sections that were easily repeatable gave the best results. I took these techniques over to the drum set when the time came, and found ways to make simple drum rhythms more interesting and engaging. Read More

Regardless of the age of the student, I want to ensure that the music we work on is both enjoyable for them and healthy for their voice. I do research for each individual student so that the correct repertoire is chosen! For beginning students who are ages 7-12, I begin with folk songs and Disney songs. These have simpler melodies and engaging text that help younger students stay interested. For beginning students that are 12-18, I will begin with folk songs and musical theatre songs, moving to art song and classical pieces. Read More
