In 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and General Music Education. I have taught piano for 14 years, voice for 10 years, and guitar for 3 years. I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Utah State University and, in 2018, my Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Kansas. I had the opportunity to be a part of the Chamber Singers at both schools where I was able to perform across Utah as well as Dallas, Kansas City, China and Costa Rica. Since that time, I has also served as visual Consultant for several high schools in California and in Utah. In 2007, I took a position with the Blue Devils C Drum and Bugle Corps as Visual Concept and Marching Instructor as well as a Brass Hornline Instructor. I also served as Marching and Visual Concept Instructor for the Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010, helping them win their second DCI World Champion title, the DCI Open Class Visual Performance and General Effect Titles as well as the DCI Fan Network Choice Award. I want to help students more effectively use and understand singing as an expressive and technical skill. I plan to begin with the basics of classical training thus allowing empasis on healthy singing. Once they have a foundtaion of the basics I will allow them to focus on their own passions. It's important to me that students enjoy what they are singing--if they don't, they won't be motivated, are less likely to practice, and they won't progress as quickly. Still, I believe students should sing a variety of literature (and may even find something they didn't know they enjoyed), and regularly start beginning students with some simple Italian art songs.
