I started teaching privately as a student at Pacific Lutheran University. I taught a steady 4 students, while also doing coaching for the theater department when musical season came along. I have been sightreading music once before I could read English, and I am well-versed is several different sets of training booklets for piano. One of the only ways to learn music, is to have fun while doing it. I like to think my sense of humor can help dissolve tough lessons. Read More

I have been inspired with music since the age of 10. My dad was a big influence being profession jazz guitarist himself. He taught me so much about the guitar and other instruments. This influence has led me to be the teacher as well with guitar, bass, piano, drums and voice, which I have been doing during these years of teaching. I want the students to have fun during the teaching sessions, having them learn what style of music inspired them, and grow on that which gives me much pleasure watching them progress, thanks Al Pignataro Read More

I work on a case-to-case basis, having in mind the student's musical preferences, guiding them through the genre they want to play (even though of course, the basic music theory knowledge is the same for all of them), there will be students that just want to learn the basics of how to play simple songs, and there will be some that want a more integral guidance of the musical discipline. I am a dedicated teacher who understands the enormous value of music and have devoted my life to it. I care deeply about my students and thier musical dreams. I graduated from Baylor University in 2011 with a degree in Music Theory and Jazz and then went on to pursue a Masters in Music Composition at the University of Houston. All the while I've continued to hone my skills as a drummer and I have been fortunate to play with dozens of artists in every genre from classical and jazz to gospel, rock, and country. Read More

Guitar: For children, I begin with simple folk songs to teach them chords and strums. From there, we progress to picking patterns. For teens and adults, I use both folk songs and easy pop music. For both age groups, I encourage note reading and some classical work. For classical guitar, I use technique books by Aaron Shearer. Voice: I put a great deal of focus on breathing, open throat and support. Read More

Every lesson begins with a check-in! How is life? What is going on? How are you? These are questions that are essential parts of our shared living experiences. Depending on what level students are working through in their development, we will spend time working on the physicality of technique: posture, healthy hand/arm/wrist practices, and breathing freely. The rest of the lesson will be simply an exploration of the music that we are working on together. Read More
