I started singing recreationally of my own volition at age 5, coming up with improvised musicals in my parents' living room and filming them with my mom's camcorder. I took advanced choir classes in middle school and high school and was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for several rock bands throughout high school. I'm a passionate music educator with considerable experience as a teacher and performer. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2005 where I studied music education with an emphasis on trombone. Since graduation, I have been fortunate to have many opportunities to conduct, perform, and teach music. I play a many different instruments and perform many different genres and styles. The relationship between student and teacher is foundational for growth. I take time to get to know every student as an individual to help them feel supported and comfortable in lessons. I encourage each student to set realistic goals and work at their own pace. We will work on a piece until it is performance ready, meaning it is note perfect, memorized, and blocked. I have maintained a private voice studio for over 38 years teaching adult singers, beginners to advanced and I've helped hundreds of people find their singing voice or overcome voice challenges as well as personal challenges. I created a Washington State 501(C)(3) nonprofit for amateur adult singers and actors that included 3 choirs, a vocal jazz ensemble, voice workshops, vocal jazz workshops, and a theatrical troupe.
