I began helping my friends work through their music when I was 19 at Missouri Western State University, and eventually cultivated a bustling studio of students through word of mouth. I now teach full time in Zoom and in person with house visits, or at my home studio. My students regularly perform very well at state competitions, form bands of their own, and have found great cause in writing their own music outside of academia. Read More

As a recent graduate, I am still pretty new at this! However, I am incredibly motivated and confident that you will benefit greatly from the skills I have to offer. My educational experience includes; volunteer work at Eisenhower Middle School in Manhattan, KS; observation of Buhler High School's choral department; private voice lessons with two college age males at K-State; and a current position as a para at Lawrence High School. I always start by asking the student if he/she has any goals or upcoming performances they'd like to concentrate on. If so, we focus mainly on that goal, while also incorporating vocal exercises and other methods to continually improve the voice. For beginners, I always start with a classical approach, which stresses the importance of posture and breathing. We'll usually start with the First Book of [Voice Part]'s Solos and mix in one or two musical theater pieces. This is in tandem with learning how to warm up, learn pieces, what memorizing looks like, and how to emote. These are constantly evolving things that can be used with any skill level. Read More

As a teacher, the biggest reward is hearing how students, who have never cared for music in the past, develop a new love for it after being in my class. My teaching style is to make learning fun for my students. It is also important to me that students set their own goals and take ownership of their learning. It is my job to guide them to those goals and to celebrate when those goals are accomplished. Read More
