For beginning students who are children, I greatly emphasize vocal exercises to help strengthen their voice. Once the student has a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire based on the genre of music they prefer, as well as basic songs that would benefit them to learn. As a young teacher, I believed that giving her lessons would give me some great experience, as well as help her to improve her voice.
