Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Viola
For piano I use the Alfred series, and for violin and viola I use a combination of Essential Elements and Suzuki books. As students advance I introduce additional solo repertoire. My voice students learn from a variety of sources. I usually start with a song they know well and work from there. Students also learn a variety of warm-ups and sight-singing techniques. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice Trumpet
I have been singing since I was 6, playing trumpet since I was 10, and I picked up guitar in my early 20's. I am now 49 and have taught voice, guitar, trumpet for over 7 years from my cozy home. I have been part of many musical ensembles (in many genres) in my 30 year career and have session work that's currently located in the Seattle Rock Roll museum. I have performed in varying capacities over 2,000 times in my career, and my emphasis is to help musicians prepare for live performances. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I teach vocal students from ages 6-adult. We work on breathing techniques, music theory, interpretation, and style. I like students to sing their favorite styles. I also expose them to songs that I feel would be appropriate for their growth. We also work on performance and auditions! I like to incorporate a lot of music theory and note reading into my teaching as well. Everyone is at a different level so I cater lessons to fit the needs of each student. Read More

Michael Aaron Piano Courses for children and adults had usually proven a good start for piano lessons. Sometimes, a student will need something other than a method book: I will then personally design a program for them based on the way in which they assimilate information and translate that into musical understanding and technique. It is normally a combination of internet information and my personal compositions. For voice, I use no specific published method course. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Throughout the course of my collegiate career, the main method/approach to singing that I have been taught and teach to my own students as well, is that of relying on proper air/breath support to do the "heavy lifting" in singing- NOT putting any stress or tension on your vocal chords! Therefore, my methods/practices consist largely of proper breathing exercises during warmups, but also selecting solo repertoire that focuses on building proper and healthy bridges between your chest/head voice, as to create a smoother, less-noticeable transition that also sustains your voice throughout the course of your singing career. Instruments: Piano Voice Flute Piccolo
For beginning musicians, I like to start with the very fundamentals of music theory in order to get them comfortable with reading music and understanding what they are doing. Books I have used in the past include the Essential Elements series and the Melodious and Progressive Etude series. I also understand the importance of enjoying what one is playing, so I always urge students find pieces or books for themselves that they are interested in, and incorporate them into my lessons.
