I focus heavily on making sure my student is truly comfortable and feels safe in their lessons, and in my experience, this is critical to ensure progress and good technique. I take notes during lessons to ensure that goals are set and achieved, and I spend at least two hours a week just brainstorming repertoire and technical exercises for my students based on their needs. We build this foundation through singing pieces that the student is familiar with and lots of vocal exercises. At the same time, I like to introduce basic music theory concepts.
