I tend to use the Faber Piano Adventure series as the basis for starting lessons. This series is very widely known and it is really one of the best methods available for teachers to use. I like it because two people are the authors and composers, a husband a wife team, and together they create interesting and enjoyable compositions that students of all ages like to play. They provide a wide variety of types of music from classical to blues to jazz and brance out into Christmas and Disney songs, all in different levels, so students can have a consistent series to grow and to never get bored! I have consistently taught students of all ages privately for 5 years, and work with singers from all backgrounds. Read More

I love it when I see a student smiling because of their hard work and dedication to their instrument. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at her or his own pace. I always encourage my students to start slow and to not get frustrated. From personal experience there are times when I have been learning a song and work on it day in and day out and it seems like there is no progression in sight. Read More

And my love of singing and teaching led me to pursuing a music education degree that I am about to go into my senior year of at Miami University. During my time at Miami so far I have had hours of field experience getting to teach elementary, middle, and high school music classes. This involved creating and teaching my own lesson plans. This past year I took a vocal pedagogy course and part of this course was taking on college aged voice students to teach and prepare them for a recital and both of my students were successful.
