Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. While there, I tutored several classmates in musical theatre, taught private piano lessons, and worked with several classmates on their voice pieces for our recital at the end of each semester. As the only student to play piano and have a classical background in voice, I was the go-to-guy when people needed help. After graduating, I worked as a choreographer for a local community theatre, I taught gymnastics (former gymnast of 8 years), and continued to work with students and friends in both voice and piano. I've taught private students, homeschool choruses, pre-K-8th grade (using music curriculum that I created), 8th grade science students, large choirs of beautiful angelic children's voices, adult church choirs, youth and adult bands, gospel choirs, reading literacy students,and soldier medicshow to prepare for their responsibilities. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd.
