One of my main goals as a teacher is to get to know my student, how they best learn, and what it is they love about music. My own love for music and particular bands/genres is what gave me the drive to keep practicing, and I bring this same approach to each of my lessons. Nothing makes me more happy than to see one of my students getting excited about something they are playing--and because of this, I structure my lessons to maximize the aspects of music each student enjoys, while making sure to incorporate fundamental aspects of technique and music theory regardless of the particular music we are studying. After I get a good sense of their instrument, I believe vocalizing with the student builds a an immediate rapport and instantly allows us to see where the voice naturally sits and where we can allow for healthy extensions. My teaching experience began in my post undergraduate college days. After graduation, I began studying at a studio called Jazz Improv with a Master's level instructor. One of his students asked for a saxophone teacher and the party was referred to me. I was then able to obtain a second saxophone student; I have also had two piano students when teaching. I enjoyed teaching music and it is something I look forward to getting back to as I attempted to acquire students on my own with minimal success. Read More

My love of teaching became stronger than ever after I recovered from a vocal disorder that changed my life. Everything I learned from that experience encouraged me to spread awarness of vocal health. I love teaching people new things especially those interested in music.
