I encourage all my students to learn the basic rudiments of music including music theory, sight-reading and playing ‘by ear’. I recommend Mel Bay’s “Children’s Guitar Method” and Hal Leonard’s “Guitar Method Book 1” for school age children. However, many of my students have decided to concentrate on learning basic theory involving chords and scales to develop ability to play ‘by ear’. I have great appreciation for music and the art of teaching. I began teaching music at a very young age, and instantly knew that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After receiving my Associate degree, I began studying Music Education at Florida Atlantic University. Currently I am just a couple of semesters away from receiving my Bachelor of Music Education degree. My teaching style is based on traditional classical approach of Russian Piano teaching method. For younger, beginner level student lessons are structured around different activities and games (for very young students) to learn notes reading and rhythm. For intermediate and more advanced students each lesson starts with a warm up, of scales, arpeggios, etudes or other technical pieces. After that we move onto working on individual pieces of music.
