Guitar: For children, I begin with simple folk songs to teach them chords and strums. From there, we progress to picking patterns. For teens and adults, I use both folk songs and easy pop music. I began teaching in high school, working with elementary and middle school students. Through this experience, I discovered my passion for helping others discover music. In my first full-time teaching position, I was able to to lead the Greenland (AR) High School band to the ASBOA Sweepstakes Award, the highest honor for a school band in that state. In high school, I won multiple awards and scholarships for my participation in school and community music programs. I have soloed with community and professional orchestras, including the Encanto Orchestra, the Issaquah Philharmonic, and the Rainbow City Orchestra. As a orchestra member, I have played with numerous professional and community orchestras in the Seattle Area, sometimes holding leadership positions - I currently play with the Everett Philharmonic.
