My teaching style is just like most I think. I don't rush with the students. Always trying to go slow and make sure the students understands everything. I've gotten pretty good at figuring out when the students get what I'm trying to teach. If I feel like I'm going to fast I'll stop think about what I'm doing and slow down. At whatever the ability level or background, I always try to introduce appropriate solo repertoire to which the student can relate, as well as introducing songs that will aid in teaching proper vocal technique and proper diction. I helped students successfully prepare auditions for college, musical theatre productions, all-state choir, summer music programs, and more. I taught students in a wide variety of musical styles and skill levels. I was also able to sing in two professional choirs from 2010-2019. For the last 7 years, in addition to teaching private piano and voice lessons in my private studio, I also served as the choir director/music theory/music appreciation instructor at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, a small state-funded boarding high school for gifted students. I began teaching while I was still a student at the Conservatory of Music in the 1990's I was Voice Teacher at the Intermezzo Music School in Guaynabo, PR. I taught all ages from 7 - 69. I stayed there for 7 years. I also gave private singing lessons to students at my own home in Carolina, PR.
