Using a tried-and-true approach, I like to teach each student the basics of musicianship in a step-by-step method. Each new concept builds on the previous one. Each student learns a bit differently, that is the wonderful thing about being an individual! I fell that I am able to tap into a student's learning stlye from the first lesson, and find areas that need to be strengthened. This carries over into all areas of learning. Read More

My approach to teaching is personal, flexible, and student-centered. I will start by finding out what the student knows already, and what the student wants to know. What kinds of music do they want to play, and why? (For instance: for fun; accompanying themselves singing; performing in front of people; becoming professional.) If the student can play some samples of songs they would like to learn, all the better. Along the way, some basics will surely be covered (chords, scales, basic music theory, various instrumental techniques). Read More

This will vary given the student's abilities and particular intentions for study. In general, I focus on five distinct areas of learning: technique, theoretical understanding, reading, intuitive playing/learning by ear, and performance. I like to keep each lesson fluid and organized, by maintaining structure within segments of study. Within these segments we may venture into something unanticipated, so long as the student expresses interest, readiness, and the ability to learn. Read More

I'm passionate and have always had a great love for music. I have been singing since I was a young child and have been playing the Clarinet since 3rd grade. Music has always been a big part of my life and sharing and teaching others is just the icing on top of the cake so to speak. I love sharing my passion for music with others and helping them to also see the beauty in music and develop a passion and love for music as well. Read More

I also teach hour-long group vocal classes seasonally. On average, I teach around 30 lessons a week, mostly 30/45 minute sessions, and several hour long sessions in addition to my group classes. The majority of my instruction takes place over FaceTime/Zoom, or in the student’s home. I just recently moved back to my home of Colorado from New York City. I am now based in Denver, where I am head engineer/producer of my own recording studio, “The Mine.” Many of my longstanding students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime, regardless of me moving or being on tour.
