I am a teacher who looks to make music both fun and rewarding. As well as teaching the student how to make beautiful music, I also try and tie in our lessons as a way to becoming a better citizen. For my first class with my students, I typically would get to know them in terms of their goals, experience as a singer, and get to know where they are in their pursuit of those goals they set for themselves. After which, I would do warm-up exercises, vowel, and consonant work, and establish fundamentals of vocal techniques for the desired genre. Once the student feels more comfortable with their voice, I would suggest an introductory repertoire (usually an Art Song) according to their age, level, voice type, and their personality. Read More

I have a bachelors and masters degree in vocal performance with ample experience in classroom, one on one, and group education with honors, from Pacific Lutheran University and Northwestern University respectively. I have been teaching privately and in large settings for over six years and have taught ear training, music theory, classical piano, classical voice, musical theatre, and other genres as well. In addition to teaching, I am a performer nationally and have sung with reputable companies such as Des Moines Metro Opera, Vashon Opera, Symphony Tacoma, and have placed in national and regional levels of classical singing and musical theatre competitions.
