My style is open minded. I first try to know the students' goals and prepare a course of action accordingly. Then I try to know how much the students already knows and how much talent they have. That allows me to determine how fast I may go with them or how much I must drill and develop a particular skill before going on. Sometimes if I assess the student is jammed or stressed I deem it necessary to digress a bit into music history , philosophy and other fields related to music that work as a refreshing background and point of rebound to the skill part of the lesson while increase the scholarly knowledge of the student. My teaching experience started after college I began teaching with public schools in 2006 and teaching independently in 2009 all ages. I love all genres of music and I motivate and encourage my students to explore music in that way. I love to have fun with teaching and competition so I encourage students who are interested in a performing career to perform live in talents shows , community events, family parties and gatherings so that they are able to have the experience amongst there peers and family. I have over 15 years of experience teaching guitar and voice to students from 4 – 73 years old. During the last two years I began teaching ukulele to children as young as 4years old. I am currently teaching mostly school age children, adolescents and adults. As a music therapist I have used guitar lessons as a therapeutic intervention to improve cognitive functioning in older adults.
