Coming from an education background, I have several diverse experiences which qualify me to teach music. In college I majored in music education and developed tools to introduce beginners, both children and older amateurs, to music. I student taught students K-12 in choir, piano, theater, and general music. While In college, I also served as a teaching assistant for sight-singing classes, and found that I love developing a solid foundation in music literacy with my students. Read More

One of my main goals as a teacher is to get to know my student, how they best learn, and what it is they love about music. My own love for music and particular bands/genres is what gave me the drive to keep practicing, and I bring this same approach to each of my lessons. Nothing makes me more happy than to see one of my students getting excited about something they are playing--and because of this, I structure my lessons to maximize the aspects of music each student enjoys, while making sure to incorporate fundamental aspects of technique and music theory regardless of the particular music we are studying. I enjoy working at the begining to intermediate level for children as I get to introduce the earliest piano musical skills and I usually spend thirty minutes on teaching piano practice methods and thirty minutes on music theory skills. Currently, I use books like Dozen a Day, Scales and Hanon to build good finger techniques, John Thompson and John W.Schaum books for songs and theory preparation. For adults, I would use books related to adult beginning stages in piano and music theory. Read More

My teaching style is fun, exciting, fresh, modern, educational, and accessible. My teaching philosophy is that music-making should be 50% fun and 50% productive. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how the voice works, what works best for your voice, how to use language as an avenue for healthy singing, and try new things you might need more clarification on at first. Voice lessons should be about how to utilize your voice in the way you want and that is precisely what students should expect from me. Read More

I have been taking voice lessons myself since the age of 15 and have been teaching since 17 when I was involved in a unique experience being mentored by my middle and high school choir directors as I knew I would be going on in Music Education as a college student. After graduating from my Bachelors program I began teaching both private voice and elementary-high school vocal and general music. Currently I have been teaching for 18 years as a private voice teacher. Read More
