I have been teaching music for nearly 20 years. I am the after school music teacher for the Norwood School District. My primary goal is to make sure students are having fun and enjoying themselves during lessons. I have a laid-back disposition. During the first lesson Ill ask students what they would like to learn about. Then my goal is to facilitate how to reach that goal. Id like to have lessons be relaxed and students can work at their own pace. Read More

My experience in both music education and special education gives me the insight into adapting lesson material to the individual student, as no two students are alike in their learning styles! I work with the needs and goals of the individual student, and incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles into my lessons. For my younger piano students, I use the Bastien piano series, and I like to use the Alfred Adult Beginner series for my beginning students that are late middle school and older. Read More

I am a dedicated musician and teacher who loves what I do. My life has been rich with various musical experiences in many different genres. I enjoy them all from classical to pop and rock. My joy is watching people grow in their music endeavors and helping them along the way. I believe in teaching music that builds and strong foundation and brances out inro the music that the student is most interested in for I find that that really motivates them and makes the necessary practicing much less of a chore! I believe that music a personal experience. When faced with a new student I always ask them what type of music they are into and what are they interested in learning and how that type of music makes them feel. It is a critical part of my teaching method. I believe when a student is learning something they have a personal connection to they are more engaged. For beginner students I have them do exercises and teach them about various scales. Read More

For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. For piano I general use the Faber and Faber method books unless I feel that a particular method would better benefit a specific student. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I like to create very clear imagery that builds over time. The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician. I like to use the music that each student loves, which allows them to learn while still keeping things fun and interesting. Read More
