I work with the needs and goals of the individual student, and incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles into my lessons. For voice I create my own custon lesson plans and use a variety of materials. Students will work on a great variety of repetorie from pop to renaissance. Students are encourgaed to learn to read music, with a great emphasis placed upon practical music theory. I aim to develop intellegent musical artists, foscuing upon intrepretation, critical thinking, historical considerations and creativity. I like to create very clear imagery that builds over time. The voice is not something we can see or touch, so I often joke that singing is about learning Jedi mind tricks that help us achieve a healthy technique. I like to incorporate theory/musicianship and some piano into my lessons to create a well rounded understanding of singing as a musician.
