I have been singing and teaching for over 30 years both professionally and for my own enjoyment.  Singing is my passion, it is what I do.  I have found that teaching someone to enjoy and express themselves through music is perhaps one of the most rewarding things I do.  For the past several  years I have had the privilege to teach within several school districts as a Private Voice Instructor. These districts include Arlington ISD, Grapevine ISD, Plano ISD and Lewisville ISD.  During my time with Grapevine ISD I worked closely with Music Faculty in support of their program which included writing curriculum for the Music History program.  I work closely with my students and their Choral Director to make the musical experience fun and rewarding.  At the end of the school year the students perform in recital for their parents and friends.  I am always very proud of my students as they demonstrate what they have learned and how much they have improved through the year. Lastly, support and accountability are also integral parts of my teaching style. Even in individual lessons, I foster a supportive environment, offering resources like mp3 practice tracks, youtube videos, and other homework to keep students engaged and track their progress. After completing my BA in public relations I was awarded a teaching assistantship at the University of Arkansas to teach the basic speech requirement. I became pregnant and did not complete my MA but began teaching private piano lessons part time while raising my children. As the needs of my family changed I began working with children in other ways such as coaching ball teams. For 10 years I served on my citys Parks Board and have worked as a local coordinator for foreign exchange students. Read More

As a singer I have performed with the Fort Worth Opera, in San Francisco, Germany, Austria and our Nation's Capital. My students have won UIL state and local competitions, piano competitions and many college scholarships. I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music.
